The bulk of music on this album was recorded in Helsinki in the northern summers of 2010 and 2011. I was listening to a lot of Modern Times era Bob Dylan, The Band, Tom Waits and The Beatles. A trumpeter was recorded in Berlin. A percussionist in Cape Town added some cool layers. An impromptu choir in Switzerland. Studio Pink Noise, which is no more, was the scene of some of the first layers of these songs and then the year after with the drums under the stairs in a wooden house on the edge of town and the monitors were the hi-fi speakers. The integral parts of these tunes were recorded live, whether that be guitar and drums or whatever configuration worked at the time. The other layers were added later. After thinking that this music may never reach your ears, I am so happy we have managed to get it done now. These are songs of harshness and hope.
